How to read impairment data

FRS impairment percentages mean the percentage of disabled people in that age group reporting an impairment type. People can report more than one type, so percentages may add to more than 100%.

The dataset records dexterity, hearing, learning, memory, mental health, mobility, social or behavioural, stamina/breathing/fatigue, vision and other areas of life.

Top 2024–25 figures include: disabled children — social or behavioural 61%; working-age disabled adults — mental health 46%; disabled pensioners — mobility 68%.
